30” x 21.5” Acrylic on soft, blue grey handmade cotton rag paper found in London

As I’ve been planning and designing our new home I’ve thought about art in a different way. About how much heart it takes to find a piece (or a collection of pieces) that ties the whole room together. About paintings that can move easily for the people who move often. Finding pieces that mean something special to you rather than something that you’ve seen before. Paintings for over the bed or sofa or in the small corner of the room that you don’t want to look forgotten. Paintings that make it easy to hang on the wall and immediately enjoy. I‘m playing around with papers and canvases to see what I come up with - maybe something will speak to you.

This piece was painted with the desire for something simple, clean, but personal and textural. Something that becomes a part of the room without overwhelming the room. Something that will ease you awake and calm you at the end of the day. Something with the freedom of size so you can hang it portrait over your nightstand now and move it into a bigger frame landscape over your sofa later.
